I would like a chance to respond to Derek Taylor's Monday article on the
new Daily Mail Projection Index ("Finally, a basketball poll that means
something".) While I applaud and encourage the Daily Mail for creating a
new ratings system, I disagree with Mr. Taylor's suggestion that the DMPI
is somehow more relevant than any of the other systems. At
wvtailgatecentral.com, the RPI system also has the ability to "project"
state tournament teams like the DMPI, but it also allows visitors to
compare any teams within their classification, not just the top two in
each Region.
